We
have all rushed off to the store and bought stuff by habit without first checking
if we already have the groceries at home in the fridge. By making shopping
lists, you can easily cut down food waste by first checking your fridge and making
a list of the things you need. It may be an obvious suggestion but by making it
a habit you can save both time and money and not risk throwing away food to
make space for new groceries.
Here
are three simple tips to keep in mind when planning your shopping:
- Plan out meals beforehand and buy groceries that can be used for several different dishes.
- Only buy as much as you need for the time being. You don’t want to buy too much and then have to throw away food that has gone bad before you’ve had time to use it.
- Look for food with the longest use-by date or fresh food that can be frozen in case you don’t get around to eating them in time.
