An Alternative to Meats? More than that!

Today, it is “Meat-Less” Monday.  Not only by becoming strictly vegetarian, but also by adopting the idea of flexitarianism
, can reduced consumption of meats be achieved. What if you still sometimes miss meats? I would like to introduce an awesome foodstuff from Japan, which can be an alternative, or more than that!

That is “Tofu.” Some of you might be familiar with it. Tofu is made from soybeans and is really healthy food because of richness in vegetable protein, calcium, potassium and Vitamin B. Soybeans have a similar balance of essential Amino acids as animal foods, which is why it is called “meat of the field.” Eating Tofu instead of meats prevents you from getting into problems caused by eating too much meat, such as high cholesterol in the blood, which in turn leads to the arteriosclerosis, infarction, myocardial infarction, and renal insufficiency.

Also, it is full of potentialities to be used for any kind of dishes, from the one simply with soy sauce and dried bonito flakes to the pan-broiled one like a hamburger steak.

There are so many tasty dishes that I cannot introduce them all.

Tofu is a Japanese genius!
